The Department of Mathematics at Western Michigan Unversity encourages students to take advantage of internship and summer program opportunities.

Internships

• The is intended for students interested in pursuing the basic science and technology innovations that can be applied to the DHS mission. The DHS realizes that the country's strong science and technology community provides a critical advantage in the development and implementation of counter-terrorist measures and other DHS objectives. This education program is intended to ensure a diverse and highly talented science and technology community to achieve the DHS mission and objectives. Areas of study that are eligible include: physical sciences, mathematical sciences, computer and information sciences, life sciences, social sciences, psychology, selected humanities and engineering.

• The Carleton College and St. Olaf College is for first- or second-year women students who would benefit from a demanding, invigorating month-long exposure to mathematics.
• The NSF-sponsored at Grand Valley State University invites eight students from across the country to participate in their REU program each summer.
• The at George Washington University is a five-week intensive program for mathematically talented undergraduate women who are completing their junior year and may be contemplating graduate study in mathematical sciences.
